The Uncovered Past Institute runs archaeology projects based on public participation.
Join our excavations and explore the history that lies under the surface of Australia. Any one interested in learning more about archaeology and history is welcome to take part.
In 2017 we commenced excavating a 19th century Chinese gold-mining village at Harrietville in northeast Victoria, Australia. In 2019 and 2022 we conducted our second and third field seasons at this village site. Our fourth season of excavation at Harrietville will take place in February 2024. See Harrietville Chinese Mining Village, Season 4 - Dig with Us 2024 for more details. We will also conduct Artefact Analysis Workshops in 2023, working with artefacts discovered during our field seasons.
